Seneca Lands Closed to the Public

September 5, 2012

The recent settlement of a lawsuit brought against forest product company Sierra Pacific Industries by the United States has caused Seneca to re-examine  its policies regarding public access to forest lands. The precedent set forth that a private landowner could be held responsible for a fire caused by others is not something Seneca Jones Timber Company takes lightly. Therefore the decision has been made to close all Seneca lands to public access for any reason, including hunting. This decision applies to all Seneca employees as well as the general public.

For more information on this lawsuit, see the press release from Sierra Pacific.
